If you haven’t written poetry in a while, and are having trouble with getting back into the swing of things, these tips are for you!
1. Find a Comfortable Environment
– I enjoy writing outside vs. inside because my mind feels more free. If i can’t gain any motivation, I can simply walk around and observe different scenes until I witness something that inspires me to write.
2. Don’t Judge Yourself for Not Writing
– Think of your time not writing as an observational phase where you have been preparing material to write.
– As we live life, we are constantly processing and storing thoughts about the world around us.
3. Don’t Pressure Yourself to Write Something Perfect.
-The best way to start writing poetry again is to simply write. You don’t need to create a masterpiece on your first try.
Poem Promt:
Write for 5 min straight, without thinking about what you want to write. Simply write down the first thoughts that come to mind. Writing the first thoughts that come to mind can serve as a good warm up before a writing session. It can also serve as your writing session. The more you do it the more prepared your brain will be to write each time.
